Keeps you young!

I would recommend Teejay’s and Susan’s classes to anyone! They have helped me enormously during the past year when I have been looking after my grandson, aged nearly 2 now. I have felt strong enough to lift him into his car seat, high chair, cot etc with no problems at all. Applied pilates gives you strength and flexibility in middle age and beyond!
I hate exercise!

Following years of pain and 2 operations on a prolapsed disc, I started Teejay’s Pilates classes about 2 years ago with a programme of exercises tailored to my specific problem. Over that period my back health has improved significantly along with the quality of my life. I hate any form of exercise but this is one class I would not want to give up!

I suffered from lower back pain that was severely affecting my daily life. Teejay was recommended by my physiotherapist, and I noticed a difference after the very first session. Within a short time I was relatively pain free. Teejay and Susan’s expertise and easy, friendly manner combine to make the classes both very effective and enjoyable. So much so, it’s an essential part of my exercise routine and I’m still going 10 years on! Thank you, Teejay.

I have been suffering from a bulging disc in my lower back for some years now. I attended TeeJay’s applied pilates for the past year, and have come out of it much stronger. Most of the pain I had is gone, I feel stronger and more confident in myself. TeeJay is also a great guy and takes great care during your workout sessions. Highly recommended.

Just over a year ago I injured my back while on holiday, the pain was so agonising and debilitating that I couldn’t walk. On my return the GP mis-diagnosed my condition, and it was Teejay and Susan at Applied Pilates that saved my bacon by advising I had a scan and then received the appropriate treatment. As a result, I discovered I had a massive prolapse disc and severe sciatica. It has taken me many months to get back to normal but thanks to the special individual care of Applied Pilates, I am functioning very well and I also now understand how to look after myself when I cannot make my regular sessions at the studio. I cannot thank them enough.

After suffering from sciatic pain for several months and failing to resolve it through other routes (chiropractor, bowen technique etc) I found out about Teejay’s classes on the internet and thought I’d give it a try. I am so glad I did. Through the classes my overall fitness and strength has really improved, but in particular my core strength and alignment have got much better and it has really helped with alleviating my back issues. I would thoroughly recommend a consultation with Teejay and joining his classes if you have any back issues or just want to improve your strength and fitness.

I first went along to Pilates after becoming bored with the gym and picking up injuries from not using the equipment properly. In contrast, I look forward to every pilates session and don’t want to miss any. Teejay and Susan are very attentive and ensure I have a thorough and balanced workout each time.
Osteoarthritic Hip Not A Back Problem!

I am an energetic 80 year old who had back surgery 3 years ago. After six months I had serious pain in my leg, struggled to walk more than 100 yards at a time. I was diagnosed with nerve damage. When I saw Teejay he immediately assessed a hip problem. I am about to have surgery and cannot thank him enough for spotting a problem all the medics had overlooked. I soon look forward to getting back to Pilates and also all the many activities that I haven’t been able to do for 5 years.
Teejay saved my squash career

I am 21, world ranked professional squash player. I’ve been playing squash ever since I was 10 and had many injuries. One injury wouldn’t go away which was my back. I went to see endless physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors and they couldn’t find out what the problem was. 4 years ago I was considering ending my career but then I found Teejay at Applied Pilates. Ever since then I have been working with Teejay and I’ve never met anyone who has had such an understanding in how my body works and reacts to different exercises and movements within my sport. He was able to identify what the problem was straight away, how it was caused and how to prevent the problem reoccurring. Teejay is the main reason I am still playing today.

I have always suffered from lower back pain and started cycling seriously over 7 years ago. I had issues with sciatica over the last couple of years and then found out a few months ago that I had a prolapsed disc. After an awkward fall in the spring, I ended up being pretty much immobilised. After a fairly dramatic scan result, 2 of my doctors told me that I needed an operation. Fortunately I was recommended to see TeeJay, who told me he was confident he could get me back walking and eventually cycling. Within 6 weeks I was back walking and I have now a better posture than I have had for a long time. I am now confident that I will be able to be active for many years to come as I keep on my weekly Pilates routine. I would recommend anyone with back issues to seek Teejay’s help; I am already planning next season’s racing calendar.
